Box Galleries are the exclusive distributor of American Fine Art Photographer Christopher Boffoli and his "Big Appetites" collection, of miniature people with big food dreams. Currently living and working in Seattle, Christopher creates scenes of little characters hard at work on everything from sushi to macaroons, cookies and bananas. He is inspired by the scale juxtaposition he saw as a child used in cinema, TV and advertising (Gulliver's Travels, Honey I Shrunk the Kids) and people's general fascination with miniature things.
Toys and food can be recognised and appreciated in every culture and the characters are never eating the food; they are working on or around it. Using food as one of the components of the work was a conscious choice as it can be very beautiful - in terms of texture and colour - especially when shot with available light and macro lenses. The work is either mounted as a C-print photograph or as a perspex-dibond mounted print creating a contemporary feel. The work is fun and quirky and the strength of Big Appetites lies in its accessibility. Not only are they entertaining for the home but also for commercial venues - restaurants, cafes, offices and hotels.
Boffoli's work can be found in private collections in the US, Canada, Europe and Asia and Boffoli has had a huge amount of press and been interviewed by major TV networks the the US, Canada, Germany, Brazil, Hong Kong and Japan. Amongst others, he has featured in the New York Times, The Huffington Post, The Daily Mail, CBS, LA Times and the Food Network.
