Italian artist Elisa Cantarelli creates stunning original works of art using a dotting technique applied to photographic images. Her work stems from a pictorial research project she undertook during her study at Bologna’s Academy of Fine Art and focuses on the discovery and creation of the everyday object. The photographs she takes are stunning in their own right, however it is her process of “dotting” which truly takes a static image and makes it an intriguing three dimensional visual perception. The “dotting” process evolves from placing colour coated ‘dots’ on the surface to drip, grow and materialise; until the entire surface of the print is covered. Elisa has exhibited in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Paris, Milan and London.
